In February, we went on our annual trip to Hamcation in Orlando. Afterwards, we visited our friends, Wendy and Dan in southern Florida for a couple of days, as we do every year. While there, we explored the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Naples, a bird and wildlife sanctuary. We went on to Virginia to visit Maggie, Justin, and the kids, a nice family visit. Obituary Maria (Fazekas) Kalotai, age 89, a longtime resident of Norwalk, CT, passed away on August 2, 2022 at Norwalk Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Charles Kalotai. Maria was born February 20, 1933 in Und, Hungary, the daughter of the late Janos and Theriza Prikosztovits Fazekas. In April, we took a 10 day long trip to Virginia and North Carolina’s Outer Banks region. In Virginia, we visited our Daughter, Son-in-law, and 3 Grandchildren after not seeing them in person for 14 months due to the Covid-19 shutdowns and travel bans. At the end of August we went on a short trip to Maine. We started at Foxwoods in CT for one afternoon and overnight then drove up to our “hub” of Bangor, Maine. There were two main places we wanted to visit – the Duck of Justice in Bangor, and Acadia National Park. Bangor was an inexpensive place to stay and Acadia was a reasonable drive away. While we were visiting Maggie and Justin, we all took a trip to the Peaks of Otter. The Peaks of Otter is a group of three mountains alongside the Blue Ridge Parkway, in Bedford County, just 30 minutes from where they live. It is unknown where the name “Peaks of Otter” came from. On our first day of our trip we headed to Virginia to visit Maggie and Justin and our grandchildren. When we have driven home from there before, about an hour north of where they live, we drive through a section named Rockfish Valley and go over the Rockfish River.
