Road Trip 2021: Virginia and the Outer Banks

Road Trip 2021: Virginia and the Outer Banks

In April, we took a 10 day long trip to Virginia and North Carolina’s Outer Banks region.  In Virginia, we visited our Daughter, Son-in-law, and 3 Grandchildren after not seeing them in person for 14 months due to the Covid-19 shutdowns and travel bans.  The travel restrictions were lifted just in time for us to combine this trip with out 39th wedding Anniversary.  We spent the 4 days in Virginia visiting, then spent 4 days in the Outer Banks (travel…

Trip to Maine, August 2020

Trip to Maine, August 2020

At the end of August we went on a short trip to Maine. We started at Foxwoods in CT for one afternoon and overnight then drove up to our “hub” of Bangor, Maine. There were two main places we wanted to visit – the Duck of Justice in Bangor, and Acadia National Park. Bangor was an inexpensive place to stay and Acadia was a reasonable drive away. Bangor is a nice city with a small downtown area along the Penobscot…

Florida / Virginia 2020

Once again, we made our annual trip to Florida for Hamcation, a visit with friends and a stop in Virginia on the way home to visit Family.  See the photo album at the bottom. Summer Road Trip 2019 – The Waltons

Summer Road Trip 2019 – The Waltons

On our first day of our trip we headed to Virginia to visit Maggie and Justin and our grandchildren.  When we have driven home from there before, about an hour north of where they live, we drive through a section named Rockfish Valley and go over the Rockfish River.  The area made me remember the Waltons TV Show from the 1970s, since they mentioned Rockfish in some of the episodes.  I also knew that the creator of the show, Earl…

Summer Road Trip 2019 -The Plan

Summer Road Trip 2019 -The Plan

We went on another Road Trip this summer.  The main reason was to go to the Hamfest in Huntsville, AL on August 17th & 18th.  John got two full weeks off of work so we could visit with daughter Maggie and her family for a couple of days, a couple of days in Huntsville before the Hamfest to sightsee there, and a couple of days in Kentucky on the way home after the Hamfest.  We had never been to Kentucky,…
